Unrestricted: The only thing holding you back is... YOU!

unrestricted blog

The world is your oyster - and you just don’t know it yet!

As I’ve been creating my latest ICF-accredited course, Unrestricted, I’ve been thinking deeply about how much we limit ourselves. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that the only thing that truly restricts us is us.

Bold statement, right?

We often look at the world around us and see obstacles. We fixate on what we can’t do, on what feels unfair, or on the challenges in our way. And I get it - if anyone has a reason to feel restricted right now, it’s me.

What Does Being Unrestricted Really Mean?

Cancer is one of those things that could easily make me feel stuck. It’s physically and mentally demanding, and there are times when my body simply won’t allow me to do anything other than rest. And you know what? I listen. My body knows what it needs better than my mind sometimes does.

But here’s the thing: cancer doesn’t have to restrict me from living the life I want. It means I’ve had to make adjustments, rethink timelines, and let go of certain expectations - but it hasn’t stopped me from continuing forward.

How We Restrict Ourselves Without Realising It

The biggest barriers we face aren’t external - they’re within us. They show up in the way we think, in the expectations we place on ourselves, and in the stories we tell ourselves about what’s possible.

We unknowingly restrict ourselves when we:

  • Compare our experience to others.

  • Put time limits (or any limits) on what we can do.

  • Define our capabilities based on what we currently believe rather than staying open to possibility. (Remember, at one point, there was no such thing as electricity - until someone believed it was possible)

  • Wait until we feel motivated or ready (what if that moment never comes?).

What restrictions have you placed on yourself without realising it? Share in the comments below, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Everything Comes From Nothing

We often forget that everything - every idea, every breakthrough, every change - comes from nothing. The universal intelligence behind life has always guided us toward creativity, innovation, and new possibilities.

But instead of allowing ourselves to imagine freely, we try to predict the future based on where we are now. And the truth is: we can’t predict the future.

The only certainty in life is change.

So why not dream bigger? Why not let yourself explore what could be instead of staying stuck in what is?

Contentment and Growth Can Coexist

One of the greatest misconceptions about going after what we want is that we need to feel unhappy with where we are. But actually, peace of mind and ambition can go hand in hand.

I know this firsthand. Despite the challenges of my current situation, I can still access contentment and peace of mind (not always - sometimes I struggle a LOT). But the irony is, the more we accept where we are, the more we free ourselves to imagine, create, and take action toward the life we want.

It’s a win-win.

What’s Holding You Back?

As I prepare to share Unrestricted with the world, I’d love to hear from you - what do you believe is stopping you?
What’s the story you’ve been telling yourself about your own limitations?

Drop your thoughts in the comments. Let’s start exploring what’s possible together.

And if this resonates with you, keep an eye out - because Unrestricted is coming soon, and I can’t wait to take this journey with you. 🚀

Are we overcomplicating mental health?

The continuous spiral of talking about mental illness and neglecting to discuss mental health that’s within us all!

Finding herself in a mental hospital for a month aged 22, her worst fears of going crazy had come true! Sarie truly believed she was broken for many years, and now sees that this was in part due to massively over complicating what it meant be a human being. After a long period of exploring and training as a psychotherapist, still burning out every 18 months for another ten years, Sarie finally found the answer, and now shares the surprising simplicity of it all to help others get the same relief.

Sarie has trained as a transactional analysis psychotherapist, as well as working and training in many other therapeutic disciplines, such as NLP, CBT, DBT and hypnotherapy. Sarie is also an author, celebrity coach and therapist, working with thousands of people a year, of all ages, all over the world. Her main aim is to help them really see the simplicity and beauty behind human nature, getting out of their heads and into their lives, being able to see that the inside out nature of life really is a gift. This removes limitations and stories they may hold about themselves, and as a result finding an ease and contentment in life they often never knew was possible.
