Everything comes from nothing
Do you let limiting beliefs impact your goals?
Whether it’s a dream career, living in a specific location or running their own business, all people want things out of life. However, what we seem to do quite naturally is talk ourselves out of something before we’ve even started. So, how can we change our thinking to stop this?
At the beginning of any challenges I run or my 1:1 work, I really encourage people to think through things they would love to achieve, but for some reason feel it’s out of reach. It’s so common for me to listen to people let their limiting beliefs tell them something isn’t possible. I'm here to debunk that by reminding you that it is!
What stops you getting what you want or even allowing yourself to dream is your limiting beliefs.
What do these limiting beliefs look like?
“But I can’t”
“But that won’t happen for me”
“But I'm not capable”
“But I'm starting from nothing”
How often have you had something that we want to change or do, but chose something smaller due to a limiting belief that dreaming too big is unrealistic? You’ve thought that if you put your goal as something big, it’s not possible because it’s TOO big. If this sounds like you, don’t forget: everything comes from nothing.
Every idea, every dream, every desire comes from nothing! Because before we have it, it’s not a thing, it didn’t exist.
Allow yourself to believe it can happen
Recently I had an idea to create some content which involved getting some people involved with me. Within 5 minutes of thinking of the idea, I’d messaged people I wanted to be involved and taken action towards it. Five minutes prior tome having that idea, it didn’t exist. The key point however, is that even if it didn’t come to fruition I at least allowed myself to imagine it could happen.
I now try and incorporate this often in my life. I jump into things that may seem unlikely or even impossible, without a concern of whether they will fail or not. Really, whether it fails or not doesn’t matter because I will always learn something along the way and get something else out of it. Even if it’s an understanding or perhaps another idea to try next time.
So, when you are next starting out, and planning something you may want to achieve, don’t go for the smaller option. Don’t let those limiting beliefs stall or alter your path.
The idea that you stop yourself from taking steps in a direction you want to go, because you have nothing to begin with, is a massive contradiction. As soon as you start to have those limiting beliefs that sound like, “It won’t work, I'm starting from nothing.” remember, everything starts from nothing. Even us. Even the world!
I’d encourage you all to think about what it is you want to create, do and achieve. And allow yourself to dare to think it can come to fruition – you never know, it just could!
What if it doesn’t work out? Understand what lessons you learned because of it. Even just that you considered that you could is enough, regardless of the result. Wait for the next big idea, and try again.
With love,
