Exploring The Three Principles with Sarie Taylor

This week I got to spend the weekend on a wonderful retreat where I finally got to meet Dicken Bettinger in person... and he did not disappoint!

I've worked with Dicken in many capacities over the years since I've been in this conversation of The Three Principles, and I've always found him to be so loving, so warm and understanding. He is just a really calm and lovely human to listen to and learn from, and this was also exactly how the weekend went.

I took my husband with me on this retreat, which was the first time he’s done anything like this with The Three Principles, and he also really enjoyed it. So much so that we did karaoke that evening (thats another story for another day!).

On the way home we were just discussing how unbelievably calm and present we both felt and that it was just what we needed.

I thought in this blog I would share something that yes, you could say I already knew being in this conversation, but I saw it on another level this weekend when I was reminded in such a way that something just felt different.

I felt a shift in myself in terms of my understanding.

By the way that is what is great about this understanding, that no matter how long you're in it, no matter how long you explore for, there is always more to see, and seeing more creates more peace of mind, more awareness.

What did I see again in a more meaningful way this weekend?

I saw the simplicity in this understanding.

I realised again, that like so many others, I can often overcomplicate what is perfect human nature with my thinking, my ego, my anxious thoughts.
And in that thinking, I can lose sight of what is there all along. So what is there?

Ask yourself are you alive?
Where would you go to find the answer?
How would you know you were alive?

We could say our heart is beating or we are moving, so we know that we're alive but I'm talking about really living.

Living in the way nature lives, the way we just find a way without having to think, that amazing intelligence behind life.

When we go within to that quiet space within each and every one of us, we recognise that we are alive. You may call it soul or an energy or a life force, it doesn’t matter, we feel something that we may struggle to understand or articulate, and yet know its there!

This is the same aliveness that enables me to be creative, that enables me to come up with ideas that I never believed possible, that enables me to love and access peace of mind, and this is not unique to me.

This is all of us. This never goes away.

We can think our way away from that feeling, we can feel like we aren't being guided via bigger intelligence behind life, because we're stuck in our head and thinking.

You know when you try really hard in your brain, your intellect or memory to find information like remembering what you walked in a room for? Lets say you can’t remember, its gone, you try really hard to remembers so much so you get frustrated!  When you give up trying and do nothing, what happens? It just comes to you, through you! That's universal intelligence.

I know if I am in my head in trying to gather information, trying to analyse or predict, I'm playing along with my ego and believing most of my thoughts to be true. Our ego is always fighting for what thoughts I have decided I believe to be true. How do I know this isn’t useful? I don’t feel good when I do it!

What is it that we are really all looking for?

I was reminded this weekend that what I truly looking for is that feeling, that feeling of connection, feeling of love and presence. And what I saw was that when we have that, nothing else seems to matter.

I don't think we ever regret not analysing or overthinking? I know if I was coming to my last day on this earth that one of the things I would probably hope for is more time to love and connect with other humans, I can't imagine anything else would really matter. So this was a reminder for me that going back to my intellect can really good for information finding answers to analytical problems, but it never helps me get to a nice feeling. I just want you to consider where are you searching for that nice feeling?

I'm here to remind you today that it is within you.

And also to remind you of the fact that your ego and anxious thoughts are not reliable.

They're not true and they're not even helpful.

The answers you seek or search for come with ease when you have a quiet mind.

I know we can get attached to our ego-thinking and believe that we have to work harder to feel good or access peace of mind, but it’s the opposite.

See what happens when you allow yourself to get present?
When you allow yourself not to be seduced by the ego, or to look for answers and analysis?

You don't have to believe what I'm saying right here but if overthinking and worry isn't working for you and you don't feel good, what do you have to lose?

See what happens if you really let go of figuring things out just for a day?

Or even just for an hour!

It’s not a coincidence that when we let go just before we fall asleep we have great ideas!

I'd love you to share with me or any thoughts you have about what I've just said… If you are already in The Membership make sure you've watched the sessions that Dicken has done over the years and if you aren't a member and you would love to listen to Dicken or to myself or the many other amazing guests that we have inside the membership, you can join here.

Are we overcomplicating mental health?

The continuous spiral of talking about mental illness and neglecting to discuss mental health that’s within us all!

Finding herself in a mental hospital for a month aged 22, her worst fears of going crazy had come true! Sarie truly believed she was broken for many years, and now sees that this was in part due to massively over complicating what it meant be a human being. After a long period of exploring and training as a psychotherapist, still burning out every 18 months for another ten years, Sarie finally found the answer, and now shares the surprising simplicity of it all to help others get the same relief.

Sarie has trained as a transactional analysis psychotherapist, as well as working and training in many other therapeutic disciplines, such as NLP, CBT, DBT and hypnotherapy. Sarie is also an author, celebrity coach and therapist, working with thousands of people a year, of all ages, all over the world. Her main aim is to help them really see the simplicity and beauty behind human nature, getting out of their heads and into their lives, being able to see that the inside out nature of life really is a gift. This removes limitations and stories they may hold about themselves, and as a result finding an ease and contentment in life they often never knew was possible.
