Stress and Anxiety: Christmas is Coming

Stress and anxiety over christmas

Exploring The Three Principles with Sarie Taylor

'Tis the season for anxiety...

Halloween is over, which means all over social media and amongst friends and family, people are beginning to ramp up their enthusiasm and hype for Christmas.

This is GREAT if you're someone who likes to get Christmas decorations out early and start getting excited because it feels fun for you. There's absolutely no harm in that - if it brings you joy - keep on jingling along!

But if you are someone who starts to overthink all the things you've got to do and all the people you've got to spend time with - and feel like there's a level of expectation on yourself now to do as everyone else is doing and get in the Christmas Zone, then this is your permission to pause and take things one step a time.

Many of my members this week have mentioned the overwhelm they're experiencing by feeling like they're not organised enough, or haven't thought ahead enough, or are worried that Christmas every year brings them anything but joy and excitement.

I want to remind you of something:

You don't HAVE to create additional stress on yourself.

You don't HAVE to start thinking about the chaos or experiences that Christmas can often bring.

You don't HAVE to be as excited as others around you seemingly are (remember, not everything is as we believe - social media is great for showcasing false realities).

You don't HAVE to do anything except be yourself in this moment.

When you start overthinking every aspect of Christmas, your body starts to respond as though it's happening right this very second. And so to be on high alert and hyper vigilance for the next month until the 25th of December is too much for the nervous system - so please bear that in mind.

If this is something that you can feel is already beginning to increase your overthinking and anxiety, I want you to remember that every year, the hype gets bigger and bigger - but this doesn't mean your stress levels have to.

Are we overcomplicating mental health?

The continuous spiral of talking about mental illness and neglecting to discuss mental health that’s within us all!

Finding herself in a mental hospital for a month aged 22, her worst fears of going crazy had come true! Sarie truly believed she was broken for many years, and now sees that this was in part due to massively over complicating what it meant be a human being. After a long period of exploring and training as a psychotherapist, still burning out every 18 months for another ten years, Sarie finally found the answer, and now shares the surprising simplicity of it all to help others get the same relief.

Sarie has trained as a transactional analysis psychotherapist, as well as working and training in many other therapeutic disciplines, such as NLP, CBT, DBT and hypnotherapy. Sarie is also an author, celebrity coach and therapist, working with thousands of people a year, of all ages, all over the world. Her main aim is to help them really see the simplicity and beauty behind human nature, getting out of their heads and into their lives, being able to see that the inside out nature of life really is a gift. This removes limitations and stories they may hold about themselves, and as a result finding an ease and contentment in life they often never knew was possible.
